Cartouche with bird and butterflies, painted canvas with “Salvadora” frame

This monochromatic painting on canvas in landscape format with agreeable 2:3 proportions is a unique and original creation, crafted with distressed and aged materials.

The stretcher frame is made of antique wood, while the beveled picture frame is hand carved and handcrafted in the Salvator Rosa (also called “Salvadora”) style, and finished with distressed paint.

A sturdy handmade iron hook on the back of the frame makes it ready to hang on the wall.

    MEANING

The airy and spring-like subject makes this painting suitable to hang in a space interconnected with the Nature and the outdoors, such as a porch or a conservatory, as well as in cottages, chalets, villas, farmhouses and country homes in general. The little bird also makes it particularly suitable for music rooms, while the butterflies would fit feminine spaces such as study rooms or fashion houses.

    INSPIRATION

The composition is inspired by recurring elements in the frescoes of important Renaissance buildings in central Italy, and in particular in Tuscany.

    PROCESS

Just like it happened in bygone times, today Autentiqua’s work is still carried out with great attention to detail, to produce a unique and original piece that comes to life only after careful philological research.
